From Harvard to the Stanley Cup: Eric Tulsky - Carolina Hurricanes GM
A fireside chat with Eric Tulsky '00 on Harvard, science, hockey, and building a championship team.
Join the Harvard Club of the Research Triangle for a special fireside chat with Eric Tulsky ’00, General Manager of the 2026 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
Tulsky has followed one of the most fascinating and unconventional paths in professional sports. After earning his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics from Harvard, he completed a PhD in chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, and built a distinguished career in scientific research and nanotechnology. He later brought his analytical approach to hockey, joining the Hurricanes as a consultant in 2014 and rising through the organization to become the tenth general manager in franchise history.
In conversation with Harvard Club President Michael Fath, MA '90 PhD ’93, Tulsky will discuss his years at Harvard, his scientific career, his remarkable transition from the laboratory to the NHL front office, and how evidence, judgment, leadership, and teamwork come together in building a championship organization.
We will also hear an inside perspective on the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup-winning season and what lies ahead for the defending champions. Whether you are interested in science, leadership, analytics, or Hurricanes hockey, this promises to be an engaging and memorable evening.
