 Join us Wednesday, Feb 28th aimagest 7.30pm for an online discussion with UNC Professors Anita Brown-Graham and Anthony Charles about their work. 

   

Dr Anita Brown-Graham is Gladys Hall Coates Distinguished Professor of public law and government at the School of Government, as well as the director of the ncIMPACT Initiative, kick-started the Carolina Across 100 Initiative, traveling around the state meeting with people in all 100 counties to form partnerships with local leaders to resolve each locality’s most vexing challenges.

 

Dr Anthony Charles is Oliver R. Rowe Distinguished Professor of surgery and director of Global Surgery at UNC’s Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases. He, along with colleagues, established a surgical residency program to train Malawian doctors in 2010. He spent a month at the African hospital four times a year to train the new surgeons and create a sustainable global outreach mission to empower others. Within seven years, the 20 surgeons who had completed the residency doubled the number of surgeons in the entire country. He is the only surgeon on the editorial board of the Journal of Americal Medical Association (JAMA)- the highest-ranked journal in medicine.


Hosted by the Harvard Club of Research Triangle, this promises to be a rich, exciting discussion. It will include a brief presentation by each professor followed by a Q&A on their work.
