Gaming or Gambling:  How does “Gacha” impact Human Behavior and Society? 

Join the Harvard Business School Club of Japan via Zoom for their Japan Fellowship Event on Friday, June 24th at 8pm (June 25th, 9am Tokyo Time) featuring Assistant Professor Tomomichi Amano from HBS.

Professor Amano will present his latest research titled "Gaming or Gambling? An Empirical Investigation of the Role of Loot Boxes in Video Games."  Loot boxes ( “Gacha”), represents a more than 10% of the $160 billion dollar gaming industry, yet has aspects of game/gamble addiction. Professor Amano will share his insights with us, followed by Q&A.


Yasuhiro Sasago HBS '20, a Japan Fellowship recipient, will also give a short talk on his journey from HBS to founding BOSSO Ramen, which he opened at Harvard Square this year.


The HBS Japan Fellowship Fund was established in 2017 by the HBS Club of Japan to support students from Japan to attend HBS. To date, the Fellowship has enabled three students to attend HBS. We hope to reach $1,000,000 aiming to support 2 students each year.
