Non-HCRT Event: Lecture with Professor Brandon Terry on "Love in Contentious Politics"
First in a series of lectures hosted by the HAA and featuring the faculty of Arts and Sciences
The Harvard Alumni Association, will host a virtual lecture on Monday, December 14 with Brandon Terry ’05, Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies and Social Studies. Professor Terry will share a lecture on “Love in Contentious Politics,” which examines the political philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr. His presentation endeavors to explain what King and his allies meant by their appeals to “love” one’s enemies, what work King expected the concept to perform, and what role “love” might play in contentious politics and rhetoric today.
