Malik sold his healthcare IT company, Medfusion, to Intuit for $91M in 2010 and then bought it back in 2013.
Then in 2015, he became the owner of a sports team when he bought the Carolina RailHawks. He stated:
“Our goal is to take the RailHawks to the highest level through additional investment in marketing, players and staffing. We are excited to lead our community in working together to give the Triangle a world-class soccer team.”
True to his word, a year later the team was renamed to North Carolina Football Club, and Malik is leading the investor group planning an exciting, albeit tough, climb to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to NC.
