Eisenhower Fellowship Opportunity
Applications open
Club member Jeff Frazier, current Eisenhower Fellow, sends this announcement for the 2013 fellowship competition:
We are writing today to announce the launch of the first national recruitment in the USA for Eisenhower Fellows in 12 years. For the past twelve years, we have only recruited men and women for Eisenhower Fellowships’ USA Program from four geographic areas (New England, Philadelphia, Research Triangle-North Carolina and St. Louis) and Agriculture. This year we are launching a pilot program to offer a small number of fellowships nationwide.
Successful applicants will receive an all-expense paid, five-week overseas program in one or two countries of their choice. We design individual programs tailored to the Fellows’ professional and personal interests and operate the USA Program in 29 countries. In return, we place two expectations on the Fellows. First, that they bring back knowledge, skills and international contacts which they will use to better their communities. Second, that they identify consequential outcomes which justify the investment we make in their leadership development.
Every year we select eight to twelve high-achieving mid-career (aged 32-45) U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents from all walks of life for this program. Although our Fellows are a diverse group, they all have a track record of achievement, high potential for further growth, and the creativity required to make full use of this enormous opportunity.
Our most important task is finding the right people. The process is quite straightforward. You are welcome to identify qualified candidates from anywhere in the United States including our hubs, and submit their names and contact information to our headquarters in Philadelphia. We will follow up with the candidates, supplying detailed information about the program. If you are unsure whether a candidate would be appropriate and competitive, we will vet their CV or bio for you in advance. This will be a highly competitive process.
Those selected for the 2013 USA Program will undertake their travel at a time of their choosing. The nomination and application period is now open, with a deadline of June 15, 2012. Because the application requires a good deal of thought and research, we will accept nominations only through May 1, 2012.
Materials can be found on our website.
Please send any questions and/or nominations to our Director of USA Programs, Erin Hillman at Ehillman@efworld.org.
