Happy Hour with Top of the Hill Brewmaster!

Join in the fun November 18, 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the newly opened Back Bar of the famed Top of the Hill restaurant and brewery in Chapel Hill.

Harvard Club members and guests will enjoy a special sampling of local brews with commentary by Brewmaster John Withey himself. Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served. So, whether you’re a beer lover or just want to meet some area alums, come learn the story behind this Chapel Hill institution.

Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery was opened by proprietor Scott Maitland in 1996 with the goal of keeping a chain restaurant from dominating Franklin Street. Top of the Hill is now the largest grossing restaurant in Chapel Hill/Durham, the largest bar in the State of North Carolina, the largest brewpub in the Southeast in terms of on-site sales, and the winner of over 30 “Best Of” awards. Its beers have won 18 medals in the World Beer Championships. Its Kenan Summer Lager was rated higher than Miller, Budweiser, Foster’s, Kirin, Amstel, Michelob, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Pete’s Summer Ale and Moosehead to name a few.

According to beer critic Roger Protz, in his 1999 book, The World of Beer, Top of the Hill is one of 12 Breweries in North America that you must visit to understand the North American brewing experience.

5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. Mingling with light appetizers
6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Brewmaster's Presentation, sampling of beers (and more mingling and appetizers)

After the presentation, those who want to can stay at the back bar or migrate upstairs to the restaurant.
