Giduz Award Presented by HCRT to Lawrence Wheeler
Harvard club members and their guests met at the beautiful North Carolina Museum of Art on November 9, 2011, for a ceremony honoring the museum’s acclaimed director, Dr. Lawrence Wheeler. Under Dr. Wheeler's guidance, the museum has become one of the nation’s most popular and successful centers for the visual and performing arts. In recognition of his enormous contribution to North Carolina and the nation, Dr. Wheeler was chosen to receive the club’s second annual award for community service. Following the award ceremony and reception, Dr. Wheeler described some of the challenges the museum faced during its recent expansion, answered questions, and graciously guided our group on a tour of some notable recent acquisitions in the museum’s beautiful and environmentally sustainable new facilities. The HCRT congratulates and thanks Dr. Wheeler and all those who worked so hard to bring about this remarkable transformation of the NCMA!
