Have a Heart, Lend a Hand!

How’s this for collegiate cooperation, all for a good cause! The Cornell Alumni Club of Charlotte is teaming up with the Harvard Alumni Club of Charlotte for a group volunteer opportunity at the Second Harvest Food Bank. The organization helps distribute food and other resources to those in need in our community. The session will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Second Harvest Food Bank on 500B Spratt Street, Charlotte. Volunteers may be asked to do a variety of tasks, depending on the number of volunteers and the need at that time. Our primary activity is sorting, inspecting, boxing and stocking donations for the agencies. Other activities may include packing food boxes and/or food backpacks for kids or sorting through non-food products and pet food. The maximum amount of volunteers is 30 so sign up quickly, if you’re interested! We need to have a confirmed head count prior to the event so please RSVP via e-mail by Thursday, October 18 (see contacts below). Closed-toe shoes are mandatory, and please be sure to wear comfortable clothing. You’re also welcome to bring non-perishable food and pet food with you that day to donate to the Bank.

Parking can be difficult and carpooling is encouraged. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure a space. Once you arrive, please enter the front door and the receptionist will direct you accordingly. You will sign in, make a nametag and wait for further instructions.

Hope to see you there, and thanks for your support!
