Election Series 2020

"The Democrats, Super-Tuesday, and Primary Season"
a discussion with Professor Mac McCorkle

Professor Pope "Mac" McCorkle, Duke University, will speak on Wednesday, March 4th at 6:00pm at the Research Triangle Park headquarters.

The road to the Democratic Presidential nomination started with over 20 candidates.  Today, that collection of aspiring individuals has been whittled down to a handful of potential nominees, ranging across the spectrum in ideologies and policy proposals, to challenge President Trump in November’s general election.  In addition, there are a number of North Carolina statewide and Triangle local races where Democrats will square off against each other in attempts to become the Democratic nominee.  If nothing else, Super-Tuesday is likely to be a watershed event for the Democratic Party’s primary season.  Professor McCorkle will discuss the history of the Democratic Party and how recent events, including Super-Tuesday, will shape the 2020 election and the Democratic Party in the years to come.

Mac McCorkle is Professor of the Practice at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, and Director of the Center for Political Leadership, Innovation, and Service.  He has served as an issues consultant to political candidates, state governments, and various organizations in 28 states over the last two decades.  Professor McCorkle received his B.A. from Princeton University, and his J.D. from Duke Law School.  Click here for a more complete bio. https://sanford.duke.edu/people/faculty/mccorkle-iii-pope
